Man steals ambulance to 'drive himself to the hospital'

A man stole an ambulance that was on an emergency call in Tampa on Thursday night, intent on driving himself to the hospital, Tampa police said.

According to a police report, Transcare Ambulance personnel were responding to a medical call at 312 W. Genesee St. at 10:27 p.m. They were aiding a patient in the house when they heard the ambulance engine turn over.

As they looked outside, they saw the ambulance take off, with the emergency lights flashing.

The vehicle was tracked by GPS as it traveled northbound to North Florida Avenue at Chelsea Street, then it traveled south on North Highland Street.

Police found the ambulance, with the emergency lights still on, as it traveled south on North Tampa Street. Officers were able to stop the ambulance at Tampa and East 26th Avenue.

Hubert Lee, 39, whose address is listed as "at large," was arrested without incident at 10:32 p.m. and there was no damage to the ambulance, police said. The whole incident was over in five minutes.

According to police, Lee told them, "I got beat up by four guys, I saw the ambulance and I was going to drive myself to the hospital."

Lee did have a puncture wound to his head and he was transported to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.

BIZARRE GETS NICKI MINAJ TATTED ON HIS ARM

Kat Stacks Vows To Change, "I Wanna Be A Square, Live The 'L7' Life"

Incarcerated rap groupie Kat Stacks continues to keep fans abreast of her ongoings via daily Twitter updates and has now promised to change her mischievous ways in favor of living a better life.

Stacks said realizing money cannot buy her freedom has given her a different perspective on life.

"Its time to settle down, i've been running around for too long.," she tweeted December 27th.

"i've seen it & done it all in my life. im tired of experiencing the world"

"i wanna be a square & live the L7 life. when i was a hustler i use to envy squares cause even though they had less money, they were happy. money cant buy happiness."

"just look at me, i got people with money & power supporting me but it cant give me freedom. when you're broke you're blessed with reality, when you're rich yo live in a fantasy world & every body/thing around you is plastic. i even had a Senator put in a word for me & the courts still didnt let me go" (Kat Stacks' Twitter)

In June, reports hit the Internet involving Stacks facing deportation from the United States.

Looks like we'll finally be able to rid our lives of the infamous Kat Stacks (Yo Soulja Boy, you can wipe that sweat off your head now). The judge overseeing her immigration case ordered her deportation case to move forward at an immigration hearing on Tuesday, June 21. Let's just hope that if she actually does get to stay in the US, that somebody gets this girl a dictionary and a tutor! (VIBE)

G-Unit's DJ Whoo Kid previously told SOHH about his issues with Kat Stacks' notorious rapper-bashing viral campaigns.

"The Kat Stacks sh*t is so f*cking ignorant," DJ Whoo Kid told SOHH. "It's the most ignorant sh*t I've ever seen in my life. I regret watching her [videos] and saying on for three minutes, heairng her talk. She has to be the most ignorant person in the history of this sh*t they call hip-hop. Like, how could you be 'that' ignorant and then you bring your mother into it? Come on. I guess that's why people are watching it. I don't know. I don't need those kind narrow-minded people. I need people who are cool, fashionable, that are into good music, enjoying life and good food, who want to learn. That's what I want to attract. I don't want ignorant idiots. That sh*t's weird. At the end of the day, when people see quality stuff, that's why I'm always booked [for shows], I tour non-stop. It's because I give out quality sh*t. I really like what I'm doing and I do it for my fans." (SOHH)

Despite Whoo Kid's stance, Houston rapper Slim Thug recently told SOHH he co-signed Stacks' antics.

"Man, Kat Stacks, we ended up getting into it before but she ended up being cool," Slim told SOHH. "I used to like Kat Stacks in the way she would trick a motherf*cker. A motherf*cker could see her expose another rapper and he's still going to try and f*ck her and it gets done to him. I enjoyed what she was doing. I enjoyed what she was doing and that's how we ended up getting cool. She tweeted me the other day, as a matter of fact. She was like, 'What's good with it, bro?' and I'm like, 'What's up? You still in jail?' It's crazy. I hope she gets out because I want to see her expose some more rappers and sh*t." (SOHH)

Man accused of trying to kill wife over excessive Facebook use

WASHINGTON, Pa. -- A southwestern Pennsylvania man has been jailed on attempted homicide and other charges accusing him of trying to shoot his wife because he believes she spends too much time on the Facebook social networking site.

Harry Hibbs Jr., 51, of Eighty-Four, remained jailed today unable to post $500,000 bail set by a judge after his arrest on Christmas Eve.

North Strabane Township police say there were two children in the home at the time, and that Hibbs' wife was holding one of them -- a 2-year-old -- when he pushed her to the ground and hit her in the head with a gun.

Police say Hibbs then tried to shoot the woman, but the gun malfunctioned.

Online court records don't list an attorney for Hibbs, who is also charged with assault and reckless endangerment.

Cee Lo and Goodie M.O.B. Starring in UK Reality Show

Cee Lo is one of the hardest working artists in the music industry. Along with judging NBC's 'The Voice,' performing around the country and appearing in 7-Up commercials, Cee Lo Green is adding reality television star to his resume. The New York Times reports that the Atlanta rapper turned Pop star signed a contract with Mark Burnett ('Survivor', 'Celebrity Apprentice', 'The Voice') for a reality show called ‘Cee Lo Takes the U.K.'
The show—which has already started airing (but you have to be across the pond to watch)—trails Cee Lo and the reunited Goodie M.O.B. as they record a new album while taking in British culture.
The focus of the Times article is Cee Lo's breakout success—he earned over $20 million dollars this year—and how he became a household name. Cee Lo's management company, Primary Wave, was established in 2006. and along with his talent and star power, is responsible for the singer's high visibility. Also worth noting, in September of this year, Primary Wave merged with Chris Lighty's Violator Management.
“I'm still just a working-class artist, basically,” said the “Forget You” (you know the actual title) singer.

Maya Angelou "Disappointed" In Common Using The N-Word

Common's new album The Dreamer, The Believer is getting mad praise but one person featured on the album is not pleased.
Poet Maya Angelou, who does a poem on the track "The Dreamer" stated that she didn't know Common used the N-word throughout the song and the album.
A disappointed Maya told The New York Post,
“I had no idea that Common was using the piece we had done together on [a track] in which he also used the ‘N' word numerous times."
Angelou said she never knew Common used the “N” bomb at all, calling it “vulgar and dangerous” to the black community.
“I'm surprised and disappointed. I don't know why he chose to do that. I had never heard him use that [word] before. I admired him so because he wasn't singing the line of least resistance.”

Common also told The Post,
"She knows I do use the word. She knows that's part of me.”
But he admitted he never bothered to tell her he'd be using the word on the track she worked on.
“I told her what ‘The Dreamer' was about and what I wanted to get across to people,” he says. “I wanted young people to hear this and feel like they could really accomplish their dreams.”
The Dreamer, The Believer drops tomorrow.

Last U.S. troops leave Iraq, ending war

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The last convoy of U.S. soldiers pulled out of Iraq on Sunday, ending nearly nine years of war that cost almost 4,500 American and tens of thousands of Iraqi lives and left a country still grappling with political uncertainty.
The war launched in March 2003 with missiles striking Baghdad to oust dictator Saddam Hussein closes with a fragile democracy still facing insurgents, sectarian tensions and the challenge of defining its place in the Arab region.
The final column of around 100 mostly U.S. military MRAP armored vehicles carrying 500 U.S. troops trundled across the southern Iraq desert through the night along an empty highway and across the Kuwaiti border.
Honking their horns, the last batch of around 25 American military trucks and tractor trailers carrying Bradley fighting vehicles crossed the border early on Sunday, their crews waving at fellow troops along the route.
"I just can't wait to call my wife and kids and let them know I am safe," Rodolfo Ruiz said as the border came into sight. Soon afterwards, he told his men the mission was over, "Hey guys, you made it."
For President Barack Obama, the military pullout is the fulfillment of an election promise to bring troops home from a conflict inherited from his predecessor, the most unpopular war since Vietnam and one that tainted America's standing worldwide.
For Iraqis, the U.S. departure brings a sense of sovereignty but feeds nagging fears their country may slide once again into the kind of sectarian violence that killed thousands of people at its peak in 2006-2007.
Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's Shi'ite-led government still struggles with a delicate power-sharing arrangement between Shi'ite, Kurdish and Sunni parties, leaving Iraq vulnerable to meddling by Sunni Arab nations and Shi'ite Iran.
The intensity of violence and suicide bombings has subsided. But a stubborn Sunni Islamist insurgency and rival Shi'ite militias remain a threat, carrying out almost daily attacks, often on Iraqi government and security officials.
Iraq says its forces can contain the violence but they lack capabilities in areas such as air defense and intelligence gathering. A deal for several thousand U.S. troops to stay on as trainers fell apart over the sensitive issue of legal immunity.
For many Iraqis security remains a worry - but no more than jobs and getting access to power in a country whose national grid provides only a few hours of electricity a day despite massive oil potential in the OPEC country.
"We don't think about America... We think about electricity, jobs, our oil, our daily problems," said Abbas Jaber, a government employee in Baghdad. "They left chaos."
GOING HOME
After Obama announced in October that troops would come home by the end of the year as scheduled, the number of U.S. military bases was whittled down quickly as hundreds of troops and trucks carrying equipment headed south to the Kuwaiti border.
U.S. forces, which had ended combat missions in 2010, paid $100,000 a month to tribal sheikhs to secure stretches of the highways leading south to reduce the risk of roadside bombings and attacks on the last convoys.
At the height of the war, more than 170,000 U.S. troops were in Iraq at more than 500 bases. By Saturday, there were fewer than 3,000 troops, and one base.
At COB Adder, as dusk fell before the departure of the last convoy, one group of soldiers slapped barbecue sauce on slabs of ribs brought in from Kuwait and laid them on grills alongside hotdogs and sausages.
The last troops flicked on the lights studding their MRAP vehicles and stacked flak jackets and helmets in neat piles, ready for the final departure for Kuwait and then home.
"A good chunk of me is happy to leave. I spent 31 months in this country," said Sgt. Steven Schirmer, 25, after three tours of Iraq since 2007. "It almost seems I can have a life now, though I know I am probably going to Afghanistan in 2013. Once these wars end I wonder what I will end up doing."
NEIGHBOURS KEEP WATCH
U.S. and foreign companies are already helping Iraq develop the vast potential of the world's fourth-largest oil reserves, but its economy needs investment in all sectors, from hospitals to infrastructure.
Iran and Turkey, major investors in Iraq, will be watching with Gulf nations to see how it handles its sectarian and ethnic tensions, as the crisis in neighboring Syria threatens to spill over its borders.
The fall of Saddam allowed the long-suppressed Shi'ite majority to rise to power. The Shi'ite-led government has drawn the country closer to neighboring Iran and Syria's Bashar al-Assad, who is struggling to put down a nine-month uprising.
Iraq's Sunni minority are chafing under what they see as the
increasingly authoritarian control of Maliki's Shi'ite coalition. Some local leaders are already pushing mainly Sunni provinces to demand more autonomy from Baghdad.
The main Sunni political bloc Iraqiya said on Saturday that it was temporarily suspending its participation in the parliament to protest against what it said was Maliki's unwillingness to deliver on power-sharing.
A dispute between the semi-autonomous Kurdish region and Maliki's central government over oil and territory is also brewing, and is a potential flashpoint after the buffer of the American military presence is gone.
"There is little to suggest that Iraq's government will manage -- or be willing to -- get itself out of the current stalemate," said Gala Riani, an analyst at IHS Global Insight.
"The perennial divisive issues that have become part of the fabric of Iraqi politics, such as divisions with Kurdistan and Sunni suspicions of the government, are also likely to persist."

DADDY YANKEE'S PUBLICIST CONFIRMS HE'S NOT DEAD!

Daddy Yankee's publicist confirms that he did not die in a car crash. I also reach out to his cousin who says Daddy Yankee is alive & he doesn't know where the rumors started!

Here's what the story said:

Daddy Yankee died in a single vehicle crash on Route 80 between Morristown and Roswell. He was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics responding to the vehicle accident and was identified by photo ID found on his body. Alcohol and drugs do not appear to have been a factor in this accident - December 17, 2011

Highway Safety Investigators have told reporters that Daddy Yankee lost control while driving a friend's vehicle on Interstate 80 and rolled the vehicle several times killing him instantly.

The vehicle was believed to have been traveling at approximately 95 miles per hour in a 55mph zone at the time of the accident.

Witnesses have stated that Daddy Yankee's car crossed the double lines several times prior to the accident and hit the center lane divider causing the vehicle to flip and roll.

Toxicology tests will be performed to determine whether he was driving under the influence, however initial findings indicate that durgs or alcohol did not contribute in any way to this accident as it was more likely to been caused by road conditions.

This has not been confirmed yet, and nothing has been announced about a memorial services for Daddy Yankee.

Accused NFL Drug Dealer Sam Hurd Taps Former Death Row Attorney David Kenner

Accused Chicago Bears drug dealer Sam Hurd has hired high-powered defense attorney David Kenner to represent him in his federal drug dealing case.
The former wide receiver was arrested on Wednesday (December 14), after he met with an undercover agent in a Chicago restaurant and attempted to purchase multiple kilos of cocaine.
Federal prosecutors began investigating Hurd in July, when an informant tipped them off, claiming that Hurd was running a drug dealing network.
According to prosecutors, Sam Hurd admitted to an undercover agent that his drug dealing network was selling about 4 kilos of cocaine per week.
He was at the restaurant meeting with a confidential informant, to set up a deal, because he could not keep up with the demand.
The NFL star was attempting to purchase 5 to 10 kilograms of cocaine per week at a cost of $25,000 per kilo, along with 1,000 pounds of marijuana to distribute, per week. He also left the meeting with a package he believed contained a kilo of cocaine.
Sam Hurd’s attorney David Kenner is already well-known in Hip-Hop circles.
Kenner represented incarcerated drug baron Michael “Harry-O” Harris, who was allegedly an early investor in Death Row Records.

KOBE BRYANT'S WIFE FILES FOR DIVORCE

Kobe Bryant's wife has filed for divorce.
Vanessa Bryant filed legal docs Friday afternoon, citing "irreconcilable differences."
Sources connected with the couple tell TMZ ... Vanessa -- who stuck by Kobe after he was charged with sexually assaulting a Colorado woman in 2003 -- decided to end the marriage because she believes Kobe has been unfaithful ... again.
As one source puts it, "She's been dealing with these incidents for a long time and has been a faithful wife, but she's finally had enough," adding, "This one is the straw that broke the camel's back."
And our sources say ... Kobe "desperately" wants to win Vanessa back and will do "whatever it takes" to save their 10 1/2 year marriage.
According to the legal docs, Vanessa is asking for joint custody of their 2 daughters -- 8-year-old Natalia and 5-year-old Giana -- but Vanessa is asking that Kobe get visitation rights, which means she wants the kids in her care most of the time.
We've learned the couple has NO PRENUP, so 29-year-old Vanessa is entitled to half of the empire Kobe built over the last decade.
She's also requesting spousal support ... which is typical in divorce cases. Kobe, who filed his response to the divorce minutes after Vanessa filed her petition, says he will pay her spousal support.
According to the docs, Vanessa is being repped by disso-queen Laura Wasser and attorney Samantha Klein. Wasser reps oodles of celebs, including Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, Maria Shriver and Kim Kardashian.
Kobe went to the Jay-Z concert Tuesday night in L.A. without Vanessa, and people who saw him there say he looked miserable.
Vanessa signed the divorce petition on December 1. Kobe signed his response on December 7.
Oh yeah, that $4 million ring Kobe gave Vanessa after the 2003 scandal .... It's all hers. A gift is a gift.
The Bryants released a join statement ... saying they have "resolved all issues" privately, with the assistance of counsel.

RAPPER SLIM DUNKIN MURDERED IN ATLANTA

Atlanta police say the rapper Slim Dunkin has been gunned down in a music studio as he prepared to record a video.
Police Maj. Keith Meadows said the performer, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was fatally shot in the chest after getting into an argument with another individual.
"It appears the victim was scheduled to do a photo shoot," Meadows told The Associated Press. "Before the video shoot took place, it appears the victim and suspect got involved in a verbal altercation. We don't know what that altercation was about."
"The suspect produced a weapon, discharged that handgun one time, striking the victim in the chest," Meadows said.
The performer was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Meadows said police have not been able to identify the shooter. He said 13 to 20 people were in the small office-type building at the time of the shooting, which took place around 5:30 p.m. local time, but they were in different places.
"We've questioned a number of witnesses inside the recording studio at this time." Meadows said.
Police have not recovered the handgun that was used.
"Right now we're just trying to....identify who may have seen what, really just trying to put the pieces of the puzzle together," he said. "It seems everybody witnessed something very different. We're just trying to go back and make sense of everything."
Meadows said the victim was in his early 20s and resided in the Atlanta area.

The U.S. government isn't letting MC Hammer off the hook for the $779,585 it claims the rapper owes in back taxes -- and has now filed a lawsuit against the rapper and his wife ... to recoup its losses.
According to the docs, the back taxes are from Hammer's most financially troubled years -- 1996 and 1997 -- and Uncle Sam wants the money back stat, demanding any concert earnings Hammer makes be automatically redirected into the government's pocket.
Hammer -- real name Stanley Burrell -- filed for bankruptcy in 1996, after burying himself in $13 million of debt.

TEDDY RILEY FILES A LAWSUIT AGAINST THE FORMER MEMBERS OF BLACKSTREET

It doesn’t appear as if the R&B group Blackstreet will be getting together for a reunion any time soon. According to DiaryofaHollywoodStreetKing, Teddy Riley and Chauncey Hannibal have filed a lawsuit against fellow group members Mark Middleton and Eric Williams. Teddy and Chauncey claim they each own one half of the Blackstreet trademark, but say that Mark and Eric have been using the group’s name to book performances without permission. Teddy and Chauncey say they sent their former bandmates cease and desist letters, but they were ignored. Mark and Eric recently went on Connecticut’s Hot 93.7 to explain their side. They admit that they have problems with Teddy and Chauncey, adding that there are two “different sets” of Blackstreet because Teddy and Chauncey won’t share proceeds.
Blackstreet arrived in 1994 with their self-titled debut album. They would go on to release a total of five studio records, producing such singles as “No Diggity,” “Before I Let You Go,” and “Booti Call.”

9 Year Old Gets Suspended for Calling Teacher Cute

GASTONIA, N.C. -- A Gastonia mother says her son was suspended for calling a teacher "cute.”
Chiquita Lockett said her 9-year-old son, Emanyea, spent the last two days at home.
Lockett said the principal of Brookside Elementary called her Wednesday to say the incident was a form of “sexual harassment.”
Emanyea told Eyewitness News a substitute teacher overheard him tell another student a teacher was cute.
Then he was suspended.
"It's not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way," Lockett said. "So why would he be suspended for two days?”
A district spokeswoman said she could not go into detail, but said Emanyea was suspended for "inappropriate behavior" after making "inappropriate statements."
The district's Code of Conduct doesn't list "inappropriate behavior," but says "disruption of school" is punishable by five days of out-of-school suspension.
