FBI busted child porn site, then ran it for 2 weeks to catch users
The FBI busted a child pornography service last year — and then ran the sleazy site itself for two weeks, a report said this week.
Federal investigators said they kept the Internet porn service operating in November to identify more than 5,000 customers, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer reported Tuesday, citing court records.
The sicko site, which showed images of children being raped and otherwise abused, was based in Nebraska. The Washington paper found out about it when a Seattle-based FBI agent described the unorthodox scheme in court.
The agent argued the FBI needed to keep the site running to hunt down its customers. But the strategy allowed the pedophiles to continue sharing and looking at images of children.
"Jesus I would enjoy hurting that child," one customer wrote in a chat thread on the site.
