R.I.P.: 34-Year-Old French Hip-Hop Producer DJ Mehdi Dies In Freak Accident
Reports are still sketchy, but the story coming out of Paris is that producer DJ Mehdi died overnight on Monday following the most random of accidents.
The story at this time seems to be that Medhi and some friends were partying on the roof of his house when either the roof collapsed or he fell off a mezzanine to his death. Two or three others also fell and were hospitalized.
DJ Medhi, born Mehdi Favéris-Essadi, was 34 years old.
After working his way up to premier producer status, Mehdi linked up with French electro-house DJ/producer Pedro Winter (a.k.a. Busy P), whose label, Ed Banger Records, rose to international prominence with acts like Mr. Oizo, and SebastiAn and Justice. Mehdi’s 2007 single “I Am Somebody,” featuring Chromeo, enjoyed Stateside success, including placement in a commercial for XM Radio.
But Mehdi was equally well-known for his remixes, memorably reworking tracks by Architecture in Helsinki, New Young Pony Club and Miike Snow, among many others.
On Tuesday morning, his fans, friends and collaborators took to Twitter to express their condolences. The Bloody Beetroots’ Bob Cornelius Rifo tweeted, “R.I.P. Dj MEHDI. The void he has left behind is unbearable. Love you, Sir Bob Cornelius Rifo.”
Just Blaze was in shock, writing, “I’m literally shaking right now. We just played together last week. Heart goes out to his family and loved ones. RIP mehdi.”
Steve Aoki tweeted that he was “devastated,” before following that up with a simple message: “Rest in peace to my brother forever here and in the after life djmehdi. i love u and miss u.”

SPONGEBOB SQUAREPANTS COULD BE ROTTING YA KIDS BRAINS!
Absorbent and yellow and porous he may be, but a new study suggests "Spongebob Squarepants" is also rotting your 4-year-old's brains.
Children of that age who watch just 9 minutes of the wildly popular Nickelodeon animated series may suffer short-term attention and learning problems, according to a study published in the medical journal, Pediatrics.
The study included just 60 kids, who were randomly chosen to watch 9 minutes of "Spongebob Squarepants," or the PBS series "Caillou," or simply draw pictures. They were then given mental function tests, and those who were tasked with watching the undersea fry cook did far worse than the other children.
"What kids watch matters, it's not just how much they watch," said Dr. Dimitri Christakis, a child development specialist at Seattle Children's Hospital who wrote an editorial that was published in the Pediatrics journal along with the study.
"Spongebob," and other similar shows, can cause problems in toddlers because of their fast pace, argued the study's lead author, Angeline Lillard, a psychology professor at the University of Virginia.
"I wouldn't advise watching such shows on the way to school or any time they're expected to pay attention and learn," she said, according to The Associated Press.
A spokesman for Nickelodeon quickly dismissed the study, which he argued was flawed.
"Having 60 non-diverse kids, who are not part of the show's targeted [audience], watch 9 minutes of programming is questionable methodology and could not possibly provide the basis for any valid findings that parents could trust," he told AP, adding that "Spongebob Squarepants" is a show meant for kids 6 to 11, not 4.
Lillard admitted that the study only focuses on 4-year-old children, and could not be used as a basis to say if the same effect would be seen in older kids. The children were also not tested prior to the study, so it is unclear how they would have scored before watching the programs.
Rick Ross Responds To Kreayshawn: “Dirty B*tch”
Rick Ross Has Harsh Words For Kreayshawn
After a brief run-in at the MTV Video Music Awards, Rick Ross is still steaming over a couple of disses from neophyte female rapper Kreayshawn.
In an upcoming cover story with XXL magazine, Ross has some harsh works for the Oakland emcee, even threatening her and her entourage with physical harm.
“I cant wait to slap the sh*t out of whoever carries her bags,” says Ross. “And I hope it's her n*gga. Dirty b*tch. You better know the f*ck you talking about. I'll pay 50K to mess up your whole week.”
As previously reported, Kreayshawn raised eyebrows after calling the Maybach Music Group CEO “fake” during a freestyle.
She later denied the diss but was caught on camera a few days later taking more shots at the Miami rapper before the small run-in at this year's MTV Video Awards Show.
When later asked about the VMA incident, Kreayshawn called it 'gang violence.'

TERRELL OWENS HEADED TO JAIL FOR BACK CHILD SUPPORT?!
the mother of a 5-year-old girl fathered by Terrell Owens has petitioned a judge to incarcerate the flamboyant wide receiver for falling behind on child support payments.
Owens has not paid for August or September, said Melanie Paige Smith’s attorney’s, Randy Kessler. The payments are due the first of the month.
The 37-year-old Alabama native also did not pay the full $5,000 monthly stipend in June and July. Even though he was unsigned by any team, Owens, who remains a free agent, blamed the NFL lockout, saying he would only be able to pay half the monthly stipend, Kessler said.
Smith, the mother of Owens’ daughter, filed a petition for contempt in Fulton County Superior Court in August but withdrew it after Owens paid her the full $5,000, along with attorney fees.
Kessler said Owens, a Fulton County resident, gave no reason for his refusal to pay.
“He texted her and said she could speak to the media, he didn’t care,” Kessler said. “So she has.”
Owens, who played last season with the Cincinnati Bengals, was ordered in May 2007 to pay child support for the daughter he had with Smith. According to her suit, his estimated monthly income is $666,000.
Owens, who has expressed interest in pursuing an acting career, is the star of an eponymous VH-1 reality show.
A judge could decide to jail Owens or force him to pay all back payments, along with Kessler’s fees.

Prison Officials Change Reason For Detaining T.I.; Claims Unauthorized Guests Were On Bus
T.I. was sent back to prison because his manager and TV producers were with him on a luxury bus after he left a Forrest City, Arkansas prison.
The rapper had served 11 months of a 12 month sentence for violating his probation in September of 2009, by being in possession of drugs.
According to a report obtained by the Associated Press today (September 8th) from the Department of Justice, his three associates were not supposed to be on the bus as he traveled to a half way house in Georgia.
The rapper, who was released from the Arkansas prison on August 31st, was whisked back to an Atlanta federal prison on September 1st, allegedly over his mode of transportation, which was a luxury bus.
Now, officials are claiming that T.I.'s associates, which included his manager and two VH1 producers, were not authorized to be on the bus.
They claim that T.I. was also conducting business on the bus, because the rapper announced he was filming the reality show shortly after he got off of the luxury vehicle.
TMZ.com produced photos of T.I. just minutes after he left the prison on August 31st, which show that the prison staff had full knowledge of his mode of transportation, as well as who was getting on and off of the bus.
His legal team told TMZ.com that prison officials are just attempting to justify their reasoning for taking the rapper back to prison.
Dame Dash Hit With Six Counts of Selling Liquor Without a License
The city of New York has issued a restraining order against Dame Dash's art gallery DD172, for allegedly selling liquor without a license.
Dame Dash opened the DD172 gallery in the Tribeca neighborhood of New York in the fall of 2009.
The four-story building housed an art gallery; a photography and recording studio, and rehearsal and performance space for a number of indie bands.
According to the Village Voice, Dame Dash and his associates are accused of six counts of storing and selling alcoholic beverages without a license.
Investigators found workers at the DD172 gallery selling liquor without a license several times, with one violation occurring as recently as May.
The city has also labeled the DD172 gallery a “nuisance,” and believes it could be a “front” for an illegal club.
According to The Voice, Damon Dash and associates had vacated the DD172 premises in June.
The news comes on the heels of last month's revelation that Damon Dash owes almost $2,000,000 in back taxes to the IRS.
Damon Dash is expected to appear in court on September 1

'The Price Is Right' model Lanisha Cole sues producers for sexual harassment
A former "The Price is Right" model filed a lawsuit Wednesday against two of the show's producers for sexual harassment.
Lanisha Cole, who was the longest serving model on the game show, filed the suit in L.A. County Superior Court against Michael Richards and Adam Sandler (no, not the actors).
Cole began working on the show in 2003 and things ran smoothly until in 2009. That's when she claims she was inexplicably ignored by Richards, who began showing favoritism for another model he was having a relationship with, according to the suit.
According to the 20-page civil complaint, on one occasion Sandler burst into her dressing room to berate her for not wearing a microphone -- while "at the time, she was completely naked and exposed, excepting a very sheer thong bikini underwear bottom."
Sandler proceeded to loudly chastise Cole in front of the other models "without even trying to turn away or avert his eyes from her nakedness," alleges Cole's lawyer, Solomon Gresen.
"Sandler deliberately humiliated Ms. Cole in front of her peers," Gresen said of his client.
"All the women in the dressing room, including Ms. Cole, were frozen in shock until Sandler finished his tirade and stormed out of the women’s dressing room," the document said.
Cole claims she filed a complaint with the show's HR department, but that nothing came of it and ultimately she had to quit the show in December of last year.
She is now seeking damages for wrongful termination, sexual harassment, false imprisonment and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Cole has been clear that host Drew Carey has not been accused of any wrongdoing.

Fast Food Restuarants Will Be Accepting Foods Stamps
"Welcome to Taco Bell, will this be cash, charge or food stamps?"
Just when I thought I'd heard it all, now fast food restaurants want Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients to be eligible to use their food stamp benefit at selected restaurants. Restaurants such as Taco Bell, KFC and Subway believe that there are certain types of SNAP recipients who are homeless or living in conditions that do not allow them hot meals and these people would benefit from being able to use their food benefit at fast food restaurants.
Seriously?
Fresno, Calif., officials are considering legislation that would permit SNAP benefits to be used at fast food restaurants in their area. Arizona, Michigan and other parts of California already allow the practice and Kentucky is currently considering it.
I already object to the many things that can be purchased with SNAP benefits. Junk food, soft drinks, pre-packaged frozen foods and candy are all permitted under current law. This is really a no-brainer. The law should restrict use of those taxpayer-provided funds to the basic staples: meat, starches, bread, milk, vegetables and cheese. Maybe there should be even an allowance for toiletries. But, it's a moral crime to have public aid recipients eating better then the very taxpayers who pay for their benefit and a sad reflection of just how far this sense of entitlement has penetrated into our society.
There have been too many times that I watch someone in front of me at the checkout lane pile steaks, roasts and even lamb chops into their cart and then pay for it with a food stamp card. They're eating better than me, and I work two jobs just to keep my head above water. And, the last time I went grocery shopping, the person even had a birthday cake from the bakery in the cart as well. All paid for with food stamps.
Soon middle class workers will find themselves driving home from work to eat a box of Hamburger Helper because payday is still a week away and the money is gone. Meanwhile, Joe Homeless person is standing in line at KFC waiting for his bucket of original recipe chicken, hot biscuits and two sides. Oh, and he can super size his soft drink too.

Brooklyn Man Shot For Returning Neighbor's Grill Without Cleaning It
A shooting that left one Brooklyn man dead and another wounded stemmed from a misunderstanding over a grill that was borrowed and returned dirty, sources said.
Michael Daley, 33, was mortally wounded, and his landlord was also shot during an argument with three men outside Daley's Canarsie home, police said.
"They are known to each other. It's an ongoing beef and it's back and forth," said a police source. "The dispute may have erupted over borrowed items."
Daley's family says he was wrongly blamed for returning a barbecue to a neighbor without cleaning it - when someone else actually borrowed the grill for a party at his house.
"This had nothing to do with Michael," said one relative. "Michael did not borrow the grill. They blame him because it was at his house."
Daley was fixing a car radio in his E.78th St. driveway around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when three men walked up and started arguing, police said.
One of the men fatally shot Daley in the chest.
Daley's 39-year-old landlord, who had just finished fixing a leak in the basement, was shot in the arm, shoulder and in the groin. He survived and he was listed in stable condition at Brookdale University Hospital.
No arrests have been made,
Relatives said Daley, a father of two, worked seven days a week at two jobs, including one with autistic children. They said he was hoping to move out of the neighborhood.

T.I. Back Sent Back To Federal Prison One Day After Release
Rapper T.I. is back in a federal prison, just one day after being released from a Forrest City, Arkansas prison for violating his probation.
T.I. was taken from a halfway house earlier this morning, for allegedly misleading prison officials about his mode of transportation from prison, to the halfway house.
Law enforcement officials told TMZ.com that T.I. misled prison officials, who believed he would be taking a van to the halfway house, instead of a high-end tour bus with members of his entourage in tow.
Officials stated that T.I. should have let them know that he was taking a “party bus” to the halfway house. Now, TI is sitting in federal custody in an Atlanta prison as a result of the infraction.
"We are awaiting the opportunity to quickly resolve whatever the issue may be that the Federal Bureau of Prisons has with TI's method of transportation, bus, from Arkansas to Atlanta, so that T.I. can return to the halfway house to complete the remaining days of his sentence," his attorney Steve Sadow told TMZ.com.
16-year-old boy died after masturbating 42 times without stopping
A 16-year-old boy died after masturbating 42 times without stopping in Rubiato town, in Goias region, Brazil.
His mother told a local newspaper that she already knew about his son’s addiction and that she planned to see the doctor, but the decision came too late.
The young man began to masturbate at midnight and spent the whole night to compulsively touch himself.
At school, his classmates commented on the boy’s problem and some said he asked them to connect to the webcam for being observed.
They further said that his attraction to women was extreme; he was attracted to all kind of women, regardless of texture physics, color and age.
In his room a great amount of pornography was found, including photographs and videos of nude women that were saved on his PC
