Convicted Sexual Abuser Asks Judge To Castrate Him Instead Of Sending Him To Jail

A Connecticut man convicted of sex abuse is making headlines, after authorities say he asked to be castrated instead of being sent to jail.
46-year-old Adam Friedman was arrested for having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student.
Willimantic police report that the teacher at the Arts at the Capitol Theater magnet school had multiple sexual encounters with the girl at motels and at her grandparent's home between July and November 2008.
Friedman was originally arrested in December of 2008 before being released and re-arrested for violating a no-contact court order with the victim.
Authorities say when the teacher stepped in front of a judge December 2, he begged to have his male parts removed rather than return to jail because it was “killing him.”
The presiding Judge, Judge Solomon didn't take the offer and sentenced him to 13 years.
"My hope is that this sentence finds its was to every school in our state," Judge Solomon said. "So every teacher knows, if you touch a student, you're going to jail, and you're going for a long, long time."
