2 Chainz Robbed At Gunpoint, San Francisco Police Now Confirm

UPDATE (4 p.m. EST, June 10): It turns out that rapper 2 Chainz was, in fact, the victim of a robbery at gunpoint Sunday afternoon (June 9) in San Francisco, the San Francisco Police Department now confirms to Radio.com.

This information conflicts with a report obtained by Radio.com earlier today (June 10), in which police spokesman Dennis Toomer stated that San Francisco police believed 2 Chainz had not been the victim of the robbery; rather, it had been a member of his entourage (“He was not the victim of a robbery,” he said this morning. “He was there, but he wasn’t the victim.”).

Several hours later, when Radio.com placed a follow-up call to SFPD, Toomer told Radio.com that the information had been correct at the time of the original call, but later in the morning, investigators informed him that the victim was actually 2 Chainz.

According to Toomer, the rapper was walking with his entourage in the 800 block of Howard Street at about 4:30 p.m. when they were approached by a suspect carrying a handgun, who fired a gunshot. While most of the group scattered, 2 Chainz reportedly fell to the ground and was approached by the suspect, “who robbed him and fled the scene.”

Toomer said the rapper was robbed of his wallet, which contained credit cards and cash money, as well as a cell phone.

Police also confirmed that those involved “are being very uncooperative,” and that the suspect has been neither located nor identified.

As of this afternoon, the rapper is now fanning the rumors on Twitter. His comments seem to suggest that he wasn’t held up, but there’s also a sense of ambiguity to his comments. 2 Chainz hasn’t issued any sort of formal statement via his reps… yet. More on this as the parties involved get their stories straight.
